Is AP gets first Waterways Project in India?

AP might get Union Government’s first prestigious Waterways Project “Sagaramala”. AP Government will submit the “pros” to launch Waterways Project between Visakhapatnam and Kakinada within a week to Union Government. The main motive of this project is to develop Ports in the country. Government seeks to develop either East Coast or West Coast in first phase of this Project.
Orissa, AP, TN, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat are lying on border of the sea coast. Even though India has around 7K Kms coastal area but there is no development in Seaports. The intention of the Sagarala is to utilize the Seaports to the maximum extent. In this regard, AP keen to develop the Visakhapatnam and Kakinada area. Government seeks to build transport facility between Vishakhapatnam and Chennai corridor and Inchhapuram and Tada.
AP also wants to develop the waterways in Buckingham canal and main canals of Godavari and Krishna Rivers. AP believes that these are the positive things to get the project. This will come for the discussion in Central Cabinet meeting on December 17th. Chief Minister CBN also writes a letter to the Government for this project.
