New Delhi, April 1 (IANS): Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar has accused Hamas of continuing to fuel the war while refusing to release hostages and disarm. Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday, Sa’ar asserted that Hamas is ignoring the demands of Gaza’s citizens, who, according to him, seek an end to hostilities.
“Hamas continues to push for the renewal of the war, refusing to release our hostages, and refusing to disarm,” Sa’ar stated. He further alleged that the group had violently suppressed demonstrators in Gaza, claiming that protesters were tortured and killed.
Sa’ar referenced a recently published report by the British Parliament, which he described as the most comprehensive document detailing the October 7th massacre. According to him, the report includes harrowing accounts of sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas militants during the attack. “This is not a report from Israel. It is a report from the British Parliament. I recommend reading it,” he said.
Regarding regional security concerns, Sa’ar emphasized Israel’s expectation that Lebanon take decisive action against terrorist organizations operating within its borders. He accused Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas of collaborating on Lebanese soil to orchestrate attacks against Israel.
“What we saw here is cooperation between Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas in Lebanon to initiate terrorist attacks against Israelis,” he said. He confirmed that early on Tuesday, Israeli fighter jets struck a Hezbollah operative in Beirut, whom he described as a “ticking bomb” posing an imminent threat.
Sa’ar also announced his upcoming visit to Paris, where he will discuss regional threats, particularly those posed by Iran. “Once again, its leader, only yesterday, declared his will to eliminate the State of Israel,” he remarked.
Israel has vowed to continue its operations to neutralize threats and ensure the safety of its citizens amid ongoing tensions in the region.
