Israel Denies Iran’s Claim of Downing F-35 Jets

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Saturday firmly rejected Iranian claims of downing two Israeli F-35 fighter jets, labeling the reports as “fake news” and accusing Iranian media of deliberately spreading misinformation.

Earlier on Saturday, Iranian sources claimed that the air defence forces of Iran’s army had successfully shot down two Israeli F-35 fighter jets along with several micro air vehicles. However, IDF’s international spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani, refuted these claims on social media, calling them “complete FAKE NEWS.”

“While the Iranian regime spreads lies, we are focused on eliminating real threats,” Shoshani posted on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a video of the Israeli defence forces intercepting and shooting down an Iranian Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) over northern Israel earlier that morning.

The escalation comes shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the launch of Operation Rising Lion — a targeted military campaign aimed at neutralizing the Iranian nuclear threat, which Israel views as a direct danger to its existence. Netanyahu emphasized that the operation would continue “as long as necessary” to completely eliminate the threat.

Tensions further intensified in the region early Saturday when Iran initiated a new round of missile strikes on Israeli territory. According to IDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Efi Dufferin, “Two salvos of surface-to-surface missiles were fired from Iran towards Israel. In total, fewer than a hundred missiles were launched, most of which were intercepted by our air defence systems or failed to reach their targets. The damage on the ground is minimal, limited mostly to some buildings and minor landslides.”

Brigadier General Dufferin warned that the threat may not be over, stating, “It is possible that additional attacks may occur. We remain committed to neutralizing Iran’s growing missile capabilities, which pose an existential threat to Israel.”

The Middle East remains on edge as hostilities between Israel and Iran continue to escalate.
