Jagan forgives ‘Babai’ at last

The YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who has been angry with his uncle (father’s younger brother) Y S Vivekananda Reddy, ever since he contested against his mother Vijayamma in the Pulivendula by-election as Congress candidate, has at last forgiven him. He appointed Viveka as observer of the Tadipatri and Kalyandurgam Assembly constituencies of the Anantapur Lok Sabha constituency and Madakasira, Kadiri, Penugonda and Hindupur Assembly constituencies of the Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency. Responsibility of strengthening the party in all these six constituencies was given to Vivekananda Reddy through an order issued by the party.

However, it is not yet known why Jagan chose to appoint Viveka in the Anantapur district, instead of their native Kadapa. It is being felt that he wants his Babai to be away from the family for some more time.

It may be recalled that when Jagan and his mother left the Congress and launched the YSR Congress, Viveka chose to remain loyal to Congress. He accepted a minister post. He even contested against his sister-in-law Vijayamma as congress candidate in Pulivendula when she contested as the YSR Congress candidate. However as he faced a humiliating defeat, Congress has not given Viveka any importance. His appeals to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and others for a Rajya Sabha seat went unheeded. He then snapped his ties with the Congress and tried to rejoin the family. However Jagan kept him at bay. Viveka could not even meet Jagan on his own. He used to visit the Chanchalguda jail along with other family members as he was not given mulakhat separately.
