YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has been fretting and fuming at his party MLAs who have been making beeline to the ruling Telugu Desam Party and shifting loyalties one after the other.Jagan, who along with his loyalist MLAs met Governor E S L Narasimhan to complain against “purchase” of MLAs by TDP chief and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has predicted that at least four more MLAs might defect from his party to the TDP.“Already, the TDP has purchased 12 of our MLAs with his ill-gotten money.
There is no surprise if another three or four MLAs also follow the suit and defect to the TDP,” he said.Crying foul over the defections, Jagan said Naidu was purchasing each MLA for at least Rs 20-25 crore, “like cattle in the market.”He alleged that the Naidu government was minting money by favouring contractors in every project and using the money to purchase the Opposition MLAs.
“If he has guts, he should ask all these defectors to resign and contest the elections again. In any case, our party will not get affected even if there are more defections,” he said.On Saturday, YSR Congress MLA from Kadiri in Anantapur district Chand Basha resigned from the party and joined the TDP in the presence of Naidu at Vijayawada. Another MLA from Addanki Gottipati Ravikumar is also expected to join the TDP on April 29.
