The previous tenure of the YSR Congress party in Andhra Pradesh was marked by an alarming number of arrests, with TDP leaders frequently finding themselves in police custody. The situation reached its peak just before the elections when TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in a controversial case.
Now, it seems that a form of payback is unfolding, with YSR Congress firebrand Vallabhaneni Vamsi being jailed in connection with the 2022 attack on the TDP office. Social media reports indicate that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is scheduled to visit the Vijayawada district jail tomorrow to meet with Vallabhaneni Vamsi. Jagan is expected to meet Vamsi during a Mulakat and spend time with him.
Jagan had previously condemned Vamsi’s arrest, asserting that Chandrababu Naidu was determined to imprison YCP leaders by any means. It’s likely that Jagan will reiterate this narrative during his customary media address following his visit to the Vijayawada jail.
While Jagan typically focuses on matters that directly concern his administration, he has felt compelled to meet various leaders, such as Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, Nandigama Suresh, and now Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who have been jailed. TDP supporters argue that Jagan is now experiencing the same treatment he once subjected TDP leaders to, with arrests that often took place every Friday during the previous administration. The political tables, it seems, are now turning.
