Jagan’s Prestigious Scheme Launched Today

Among the promises made by YS Jagan during his ‘padayatra’ Amma Vodi had attracted many. Especially the rural women who find it difficult to give their children education owing to financial burden, were relieved when Jagan announced ‘Amma Vodi.’

On Thursday this scheme is launched in Chittoor by CM Jagan. Under Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme, a sum of Rs 15,000 will be credited in the bank accounts of mothers or guardians of the children. The government has gathered the date of beneficiaries and nearly 43 lakh mothers or guardians have registered under the scheme.

The YSRCP government has allocated Rs 6455.80 crore budget for the fiscal year 2019-20. After Jagan made this announcement, the student enrollment went up by 30 per cent for the current academic year.

Initially the government has set few conditions for the scheme and one among them is to have a minimum attendance of 75 per cent of the student to avail the benefits of the Amma Vodi scheme. But Jagan has removed certain controversial restriction.

‘Amma Vodi’ is not applicable to dropouts from school or colleges, Government employees and income taxpayers. The best feature of this scheme is the government has accepted to include orphans and street children who are studying in various schools with help of NGOs
