The much-awaited sequel to the blockbuster Jailer, tentatively titled Jailer 2, has officially entered production. Director Nelson Dilipkumar has commenced shooting with the ensemble cast, though the film’s leading star, Rajinikanth, is yet to join the sets. The initial schedule will focus on filming key sequences without him, continuing until the end of March. The next major phase of production is planned in Kerala, where Rajinikanth is expected to make his much-anticipated entry.

The first installment of Jailer gained immense pan-Indian appeal by featuring renowned stars from multiple film industries, including Mohanlal from Malayalam cinema and Shiva Rajkumar from Kannada films. In keeping with this approach, Nelson is now eyeing a major Telugu superstar for a crucial role in Jailer 2. Reports suggest that the choices have been narrowed down to Nandamuri Balakrishna and NTR, with the final selection hinging on their availability and schedules.

By integrating top stars from diverse film industries, the sequel aims to expand its reach and captivate audiences across different regions. The speculation surrounding which Telugu star will join the ensemble only adds to the growing anticipation for the film. With Rajinikanth set to join the shoot soon and production gaining momentum, Jailer 2 is shaping up to be a massive cinematic spectacle, potentially surpassing the phenomenal success of its predecessor.
