With pan-India collaborations becoming a norm, filmmakers are increasingly bringing stars from different industries to widen their film’s reach. The trend is clearly visible with Jailer 2, which is currently in production.
The makers of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film have reportedly been keen on casting a prominent Telugu star for a crucial cameo. Initially, discussions were held with Nandamuri Balakrishna, and fans were excited at the prospect of seeing Balayya share screen space with Rajinikanth. However, the talks did not materialize, as Balakrishna is said to have politely declined the offer.
The team then approached Pawan Kalyan, which generated considerable buzz. But with his packed political schedule, Pawan Kalyan reportedly found it difficult to allocate dates and eventually turned down the opportunity as well.
With two major Telugu stars opting out, the spotlight is now on who will step into this much-talked-about cameo role. Given the massive success of the first installment even without a Telugu star, the makers are now aiming to scale up the sequel further by adding cross-industry appeal.
However, the ongoing uncertainty around the cameo casting could slightly impact the film’s momentum if not handled carefully. Director Nelson Dilipkumar is expected to manage this aspect discreetly, ensuring that the final reveal creates a strong on-screen impact rather than getting diluted by speculation.
