Actor-turned-politician Vijay has been at the center of intense public attention in recent days following reports that his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, has filed for divorce.
Fueling further speculation, their son, filmmaker Jason Sanjay, has reportedly unfollowed Vijay on Instagram. The development quickly caught the attention of social media users after the news of the alleged divorce petition surfaced online.
Jason is said to follow around 38 accounts on Instagram, including prominent filmmakers such as Anurag Kashyap and Farhan Akhtar, but Vijay’s handle is reportedly not among them. While some netizens interpret the move as a possible indication of strain within the family—or even as a gesture of support toward his mother—others have pointed out that Jason may not have been following Vijay earlier either. Notably, Vijay himself does not follow anyone on the platform.
The social media chatter comes shortly after reports claimed that Sangeetha filed a divorce petition at the Chengalpattu Family Court, citing allegations of infidelity. According to circulating reports, the court has issued a notice asking Vijay to appear in person on April 20.
The plea reportedly describes the experience as causing deep emotional pain and mental distress. It further alleges that despite assurances that the relationship in question would end, it continued, leading to claims of mental cruelty, emotional neglect, public humiliation through social media activity, and constructive desertion.
As of now, neither Vijay nor Sangeetha has issued an official public statement confirming or denying the reported divorce proceedings, leaving fans and followers awaiting clarity.
Vijay and Sangeetha, who married in August 1999, share two children — Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha. Jason has been associated with a few film projects, including Pull the Trigger, while Divya previously appeared in Vijay’s 2016 film Theri.
