Amid a sweeping executive reshuffle at Apple, the company’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies, Johny Srouji, is reportedly considering a departure. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Srouji has informed CEO Tim Cook that he is “seriously considering” leaving Apple to join another company, though details about the potential move remain unclear.
If confirmed, Srouji’s exit would mark yet another high-profile leadership departure at Apple in recent weeks. The company has already seen the exits of design chief Alan Dye, AI head John Giannandrea, policy lead Lisa Jackson, and other senior executives. Gurman reports that Srouji’s departure represents a near-term risk, with Cook offering a substantial compensation package and expanded responsibilities in an effort to retain him.
Internal discussions have also reportedly explored the possibility of elevating Srouji to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). However, sources suggest such a move could take place under a new CEO, as Tim Cook is also rumoured to be preparing for retirement in the near future.
Srouji joined Apple in 2008 and was promoted to SVP of Hardware Technologies in 2015. He has played a pivotal role in Apple’s hardware strategy, particularly in the development of in-house silicon that powers iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
Gurman attributes the wave of executive-level exits to multiple factors. Many senior leaders are reportedly approaching retirement age, while broader concerns include Apple’s lack of a breakthrough new product category in recent decades and delays in delivering its much-anticipated Apple Intelligence upgrades.
If Srouji does depart, it would represent one of the most significant leadership changes in Apple’s history, given his central role in shaping the company’s hardware future.
