With the rise of AI tools and the surge of online content, many actors across India are turning to the courts to safeguard their identity from unauthorized use. Fake videos, voice clones, and unapproved promotional material have become increasingly common, prompting stars to seek legal protection over their name, image, and likeness.
In this context, Jr NTR has approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights. The case was taken up on Monday, during which his legal team highlighted infringing and defamatory content circulating on social media platforms and e-commerce sites.
The Court has directed these platforms to treat his plea as a formal complaint under the IT Rules 2021 and respond within three days. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on December 22, when the Court is expected to issue a detailed order.
Personality rights encompass a person’s name, voice, photograph, signature, likeness, and other identifiable traits. Several prominent actors, including Mohan Babu, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Amitabh Bachchan, and Ajay Devgn, have filed similar cases in recent years, citing concerns over AI-generated deepfakes, unauthorized advertisements, scam promotions, and political edits.
On the professional front, Jr NTR is gearing up for the next schedule of Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel. The film is planned as a two-part release, with the first installment slated for the first half of 2027.
