‘Just for animals’ Terminal in Airport

First of its kind in the world, a special terminal exclusively for animals is all set to be unveiled at the John F Kennedy International Airport at New York. The ‘Just for animals’ terminal is expected to be opened in 2016 and estimated to transport 70,000 animals a year.
A whopping USD 48 million is being spent on the terminal in order to provide separate specialties for animals. The 1,78,000-square-foot state-of-the-art animal handling and intelligent air cargo facility, aptly called ‘The Ark’, will be built at a cost of USD 48 million, stated ARK Development in a statement.
The terminal will be constructed at the current site of Cargo Building 78 at JFK, with 14.4 acres of surrounding ground area, which includes direct airside access to the taxiway and large aircraft ramp parking.
“The ARK will be the world’s only privately-owned animal handling cargo terminal and USDA-approved, full service 24-hour airport quarantine facility for the import and export of horses, pets, birds, and livestock,” statement said.
