A major political development has unfolded in Telangana with Kalvakuntla Kavitha resigning from her MLC post. The resignation has been officially accepted by Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy.
Kavitha, the daughter of KCR and a former BRS leader, had been away from party activities for several months. In September 2025, the BRS leadership suspended her, which also led to the loss of her primary membership. During her last speech in the Council, Kavitha became emotional and made several startling allegations against the party and its leaders.
Amidst these developments, Kavitha chose to step down from her MLC position, citing moral responsibility. She personally met the Legislative Council Chairman to submit her resignation, requesting its immediate acceptance. After reviewing the relevant rules, the Chairman approved her resignation.
Elected unopposed as an MLC from the Nizamabad Local Bodies quota in 2022, Kavitha still had a remaining term. However, evolving political circumstances prompted her decision to resign before completing her tenure. With her resignation now accepted, the Nizamabad MLC seat is officially vacant, and the Election Commission is expected to announce a by-election in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Kavitha’s future political plans have become a topic of speculation, with observers closely watching her next move in Telangana politics.
