
The prestigious Oscars ceremony is set to take place in March next year, and preparations are already underway. As part of the process, the Academy has finalized the committee for the voting phase. Notably, Indian actors Kamal Haasan and Ayushmann Khurrana have been invited to join the global voting panel, marking a proud moment for Indian cinema.
Both actors have received official invitations to become members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). They will now play a role in the Oscar nomination and final voting process alongside several prominent Hollywood personalities.
The Academy recently released the list of newly invited members for 2024, which includes not just Kamal Haasan and Ayushmann Khurrana, but also Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia and acclaimed fashion designer Maxima Basu. These members will now be eligible to vote in selecting the final list of Oscar-nominated films.
This year, the Academy extended invitations to a total of 534 new members, with a significant 44% of them being women. The new members were selected from 19 different categories, including actors, directors, technical experts, and producers. The Academy expressed pride in welcoming such a diverse and talented group.
The 2025 Oscars ceremony will be held on March 15, with the nomination process scheduled between January 12 and 16, followed by the official announcement of final nominations on January 22. With several high-profile films in contention, the upcoming Oscars are expected to be a grand and competitive event.
