Kamal Haasan Clarifies Comments on “Indian 2” as Release Nears

The highly anticipated sequel “Indian 2,” starring legendary actor Kamal Haasan and directed by the renowned Shankar, is set to hit theaters on July 12th. Produced by Lyca Productions on a grand scale, the pan-Indian film has garnered significant pre-release buzz. However, some recent comments by Haasan sparked debate about the film’s potential reception.

Haasan expressed his enthusiasm for a potential third installment in the franchise, stating, “If I have to be honest, the very reason I agreed to do part two of the Indian is the part three of the franchise. I’m a big fan of part three.” This statement unintentionally led some to believe that “Indian 2” might not be as compelling.

Recognizing this misinterpretation, Haasan issued a clarification to reassure viewers. He explained, “Just because I said that I liked Indian 3 more doesn’t necessarily mean that I didn’t like Indian 2. When you have a meal, you look forward to the dessert. My wait for Indian 3 is the same. It’s like asking a child whether he likes his father or mother. I didn’t request the third part. Initially, it was all a single part. So, don’t misconstrue my preference for Indian 3 as looking down upon Indian 2.”

“Indian 2” boasts a talented supporting cast including Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, and Samuthirakani. The film serves as a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster “Indian,” which catapulted Shankar to the forefront of South Indian cinema. Music for “Indian 2” is composed by the popular Anirudh Ravichander. The film’s grand production value is evident in its reported runtime of 3 hours and 4 minutes.

With the release date fast approaching, all eyes are on “Indian 2.” Haasan’s clarification regarding his earlier comments has hopefully quelled any doubts about the film’s quality. The coming days will reveal whether “Indian 2” lives up to the legacy of its predecessor and the immense hype surrounding it.
