Tamil star Karthi’s 27th film Vaa Vaathiyaar, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and produced by KE Gnanavelraja under Studio Green, is gearing up for a grand December release. The film will hit Telugu screens as Annagaru Vostaru.
Krithi Shetty plays the female lead, joined by a strong ensemble cast including Shilpa Manjunath, Rajkiran, Anand Raj, Sathyaraj, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, PL Thenappan, Vidhya Borgia, Nivas Adthitan, and Madhur Mittal.
As release day approaches, promotions have intensified, with the team hosting a grand pre-release event in Hyderabad. The event saw the presence of Sundeep Kishan, Bunny Vas, and directors Deva Katta, Shiva Nirvana, Vivek Athreya, Bobby, Venky Kudumula, and Rahul Ravindran.
Speaking at the event, Karthi revealed the vision behind the film, stating that it explores the deep admiration audiences have for their heroes—an admiration that sometimes grows into devotion. He shared that director Nalan crafted the film as a tribute to the mass commercial cinema of the 70s and 80s, a genre that naturally demanded a larger-than-life hero. Comparing the film’s essence to the cultural impact of icons like NTR and MGR, Karthi said the story imagines how such towering personalities would be perceived in today’s world.
Karthi praised Nalan Kumarasamy’s return after eight years, noting that many Telugu filmmakers admire his storytelling. He described the fictional world built for the film as vast and challenging, pushing him creatively and helping him grow as an actor. Confident about the freshness of the concept and his performance, Karthi said films of this scale are rare and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering innovative cinema.
Releasing on December 12, 2025, Vaa Vaathiyaar / Annagaru Vostaru marks Nalan Kumarasamy’s comeback after four years. Marketed as an action-packed entertainer, the film promises a gripping experience backed by Santhosh Narayanan’s powerful music and Karthi’s commanding screen presence.
