TRS MP from Nizamabad and daughter of KCR, Kavitha, has appealed to AP CM Chandrababu Naidu to look into the matter of alleged suicide of B.Arch student Rishiteswari. Asking Mr Naidu to probe her death, Kavitha has written a letter to Mr Naidu. In her letter, Kavitha pointed out at the reports of involvement of high profile persons behind Rishiteswari’s suicide.
Citing few social media posts, Kavitha also suspected that the victim would had been sexually assaulted, harassed which would have led to abetment of her suicide. Kavitha said that she was deeply saddened with the death of Rishiteswari and asked AP government to take necessary steps to avoid atrocities against women.
It may be recalled that Warangal girl Rishiteswari, who was studying first year B.Arch in Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU), allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room on July 14.
AP Government has already constituted a high-level committee to inquire into the death of Rishiteswari. The committee will be headed by retired IAS officer Balasubrahmanyam and have Vikram Simhapuri University vice-chancellor Prof. Veeraiah, Prof.
Balakrishnama Naidu of Sri Venkateswara University and Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalayam registrar P Vijaya Lakshmi as members. In the orders, Government asked the committee to submit its report within five days. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao earlier stated that government would take stern action against who resorting to ragging or harassment.
