Contrary to previous trend of giving only three days as festival holidays for Sankranthi, Telangana government declared 1 week holidays this time around. Taking everyone by surprise, Chief Minister KCR for the first-time announced a week holidays from Jan 12 to Jan 18 (7 days).
Including the Sunday, Jan 11, the total holidays go up to 8 days. Given that this first-big festival after KCR sworn in as CM and it’s farmer’s festival where crops are harvested and children flying kites in Telangana is celebrated well, KCR directed officials to declared holidays.
With this students of private and government colleges are in jubilant mood and thanking KCR in their minds. Many Andhra students who are studying in Hyderabad are busy packing their bags to go to their native villages. A true Sankranthi has arrived it seems.
