During the ongoing budget debate in TS Assembly, MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi reportedly expressed his view that the Finance Commission has favored Andhra Pradesh at the cost of Telangana State for allocating financial resources.
Owaisi lamented that while AP’s share in grants as well as taxes from the Centre was given a hike the share of TS was reduced while lamenting that AP’s share in devolution of taxes is 4.30 per cent whereas that of TS has been reduced now to 2.48 percent from earlier 2.91 percent.
He also added that this should have been in the Governor’s speech. It is estimated that while AP might get Rs 1.5 lakh crore from the Centre during next five years, TS figures are not yet clear.
Joining this debate, TS Chief Minister KCR reportedly compared AP to an ‘ill patient’ saying the state is in need of some strong “tonic” and hence AP is among the eleven other states in India chosen for additional grants.
This comment was however not made out of any hate statement, but was a description as per the context.
