Lashing out at the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government for “delaying” elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on lame excuses, Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday demanded early conduct of the polls.
Kishan Reddy expressed surprise over the government’s submission to the High Court that it would take 249 days to complete necessary procedure to hold elections to the GHMC. “TRS has cited the delay to conduct elections to the civic body over completion of process of delimitation and reservation of wards.
However, the previous government completed the same procedures within a week and conducted polls earlier,” he added. Stating that the term of the previous elected body of GHMC ended in the first week of December 2014, Kishan Reddy said, “In view of the outcome of the recently held Legislative Council elections, the TRS is afraid of facing elections to the GHMC and that was the reason why it was delaying the process,” the BJP Chief alleged and claimed his party will emerge victorious in the GHMC polls and TRS will lose.
