In an unexpected shock to power star Pawan Kalyan, the Telangana government on Tuesday refused permission for screening special shows of his latest film Agnyathavasi, slated to be released on Wednesday.Andhra Pradesh government has issued a special order permitting all theatres and multiplexes to have special screening of Agnyathavasi from 1 am to 10 am for one week from January 10 to 17. It also gave permission to increase the ticket charges for the initial few weeks.
In Telangana, too, Pawan and the production team thought that they would get a similar permission.
Pawan himself went to the residence of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan, waited for more than an hour and spent nearly two hours with him, praised his government, described him as the role model for other chief minister and appreciated his 24X7 free agricultural power supply scheme. As part of his lobbying, he also appealed for the enhancement of ticket prices, besides permission for screening special shows from 1 am to 10 am.
He thought KCR would fall for his praises and grant him the boons.
But on Tuesday, the Telangana government gave him the rude shock by denying special shows on the ground that it would lead to law and order problems during the nights and the police would not be able to give additional bandobust at the theatres. However, the increased ticket fares would be applicable in Telangana, too, as the order was given by the high court. As a result, the theatres which were preparing to screen midnight shows from Tuesday night itself cancelled the same.
That’s KCR!
