Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have lost hope on getting into the inner circle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, despite his best efforts to appease the latter by supporting his demonetisation drive and maintaining good relations with the Centre.
According to sources, Modi is not very keen on making the TRS as an ally, partly because he doesn’t like KCR’s use and throw policy and inconsistent political stand.
The Prime Minister is learnt to have realised that KCR was trying to pamper him for a cabinet berth to his daughter Kavitha at the Centre, besides seeking huge monetary benefit to the state. So, he has started KCR keeping away from NDA.
Apparently realising that the TRS cannot come closer to the NDA, KCR is now back to his old tactics of appeasing minorities.
As part of that, he has once again joined hands with the MIM. As a friendly gesture, he offered one MLC seat to the MIM under local bodies’ quota.
Actually, as per its strength, the MIM can get only MLC seat, because the TRS has more than 100 corporators in 150-member GHMC. So, it has asked the TRS chief to ensure that both the outgoing MIM legislators could be accommodated.
The TRS president generously agreed to give a second MLC seat to the MIM. Senior journalist Syed Amin-ul-Hasan Jafri is all set to be declared elected unanimously for the third consecutive time.
Tuesday was the last date to file nomination. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is March 3 and election if needed was to be conducted on March 17.
