Superstar Mahesh Babu and visionary director S. S. Rajamouli are collaborating on the prestigious project Varanasi, with the team maintaining strict secrecy around the film’s updates.

During the early stages of the shoot, a video featuring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran was leaked from the sets, raising concerns about security. However, no further leaks have surfaced since then, indicating that Rajamouli’s team has significantly tightened control over the film’s content.

Interestingly, several international journalists were given exclusive access to the sets around the time of the teaser launch in November 2025. Despite this, the footage remained under wraps for months, highlighting the team’s strong grip on information flow and their intent to surprise audiences at the right time.

The recent visuals that surfaced have amplified excitement around the film. They reveal grand sets recreating the iconic ghats, temples, and streets of Varanasi with remarkable detail. Given the challenges of shooting in real locations, the team has built elaborate sets that closely mirror the original city. A major portion of the film is reportedly set against this backdrop.

The aerial shots and miniature models of the ghats and riverside temples showcase exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail—something Rajamouli is known for since films like Baahubali.

Also starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas alongside Prithviraj, the film is being produced by K. L. Narayana under the Durga Arts banner. The much-awaited project is slated for release in 2027.
