KCR okays Ravindra Bharathi demolition

The iconic auditorium of Ravindra Bharathi which has served for many decades as the cultural hub of Hyderabad and united Andhra Pradesh would be soon fading into history. In its place, sources say that the Telangana government is coming up with something else.
It is aiming to build an ultra-modern structure that reflects cultural and historical significance of Hyderabad. The new proposed building would reportedly be in the shape of a large shiny pearl which is nestling in its shell.
The design of this building has impressed the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao because Hyderabad was traditionally called Pearl City. Reputed architect, Hafeez Contractor, whom the chief minister is consulting to enhance the city skyline, has reportedly briefed KCR over the design aspects of this proposed building.
Chandrasekhar Rao was presented the details of the building through a Power Point presentation. The structure will have a conference hall, gaming centers, restaurants and other facilities which was inaugurated by the then India’s vice-president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on May 11th 1961.
