In the film industry, it’s hard to predict how careers will evolve. Directors become heroes, heroes turn producers or directors, and actresses, after their successful stints in cinema, often venture into production, business, or other fields to stay in the limelight.
The latest to spark such discussions is Malayalam actress Keerthy Suresh. While she started her journey as a child artist, Keerthy initially aspired to become a fashion designer. However, destiny had other plans, and she made her mark as an actress, eventually becoming a pan-India star with a series of successful films.
Keerthy made her Tamil debut with Idhu Enna Maayam, which turned out to be a hit, paving the way for her rise as a star heroine. She entered Telugu cinema with Nenu Sailaja, which brought her immense recognition. Her performance in the biopic Mahanati, where she portrayed legendary actress Savitri, earned her a National Award and solidified her place among the top actresses.
Recently, Keerthy made her Bollywood debut with Baby John, but the film didn’t meet expectations. After marrying her long-time boyfriend Antony, Keerthy hasn’t signed many new films. Her most recent release Uppu Kappurambu was a project she committed to before her wedding.
Despite the slow flow of film offers, Keerthy has remained in the public eye. During a recent visit to Madurai for an event, fans welcomed her with chants of “TVK, TVK” — referring to actor Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. This led to speculations that Keerthy might soon enter politics, especially because of her strong association with Vijay, with whom she acted in two films. Vijay even attended her wedding in Goa, further fueling the rumors.
While fans continue to speculate, Keerthy has previously stated that she has no interest in politics. Only time will tell if her career takes a new direction or if she continues focusing on films.
