It Is Humiliating & Feels Like Character Assassination: Allu Arjun
In a recent press conference, actor Allu Arjun responded to the ongoing controversy surrounding the tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The incident, which has continued to dominate media headlines, led to the death of Revathi, with several others injured. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy made sensational comments in the Assembly, alleging that Allu Arjun had not left the theatre despite being informed about the incident.
Allu Arjun, in his statement, emphasized that the event was a tragic accident and urged that it be viewed as such, with no one at fault. “We all had positive intentions that day, but unfortunately, the accident occurred, beyond anyone’s control,” he explained. The actor extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and shared his personal distress, stating that he cannot feel at peace while such an incident has occurred.
Clearing up misunderstandings surrounding the incident, Allu Arjun stated that he had been receiving regular updates on the condition of Sri Tej, who was injured in the stampede and is now on the path to recovery. He expressed his disappointment over the misinformation being spread about him. “I feel humiliated by the allegations against me. It’s like a character assassination,” he added.
Allu Arjun also addressed claims about his actions at the theatre. He denied accusations that he had arrived irresponsibly or without permission. He explained, “It is false that I organized a roadshow. My car was stopped in the crowd, and I merely waved my hands, hoping the crowd would disperse. The police were clearing the crowd when I arrived, and I understood the situation was under control.”
The actor denied knowing about the fatality until the following day. “Only later did I learn about the unfortunate death. I was not informed about the incident when I was at the theatre,” he clarified. He also rejected allegations that he refused to leave the theatre after being told about the death, emphasizing that the management had asked him to leave due to overcrowding, not any specific incident.
Addressing further allegations about his lack of interaction with the deceased’s family, Allu Arjun explained that he had been advised by his legal team not to meet them, though he had expressed his willingness to visit them. “I was ready to go to the hospital, but my legal team strongly advised against meeting the family,” he stated.
In a gesture of support, Allu Arjun revealed plans to help Sri Tej financially, along with the producers of Pushpa and director Sukumar. “We plan to pool funds and create a fixed deposit in Sri Tej’s name,” he said. Despite his efforts to support the affected parties, he expressed his frustration at the public criticism. “This is not about money. I have been in constant touch with the family, but these allegations are deeply distressing,” he concluded.
Allu Arjun ended his statement by reaffirming his commitment to elevating Telugu cinema and his dedication to its national recognition. “It’s painful when I face this kind of public humiliation, especially when my goal has always been to take Telugu cinema to new heights.”
