Tamil star Thala Ajith is a demigod to millions of his fans worldwide and his professional rivalry with Ilayathapathy Vijay is one of the most talked about star wars in Kollywood’s history. Whenever a film of any of these two stars releases, there will be a tense situation with their fans waging an intense war against each other.
Recently, Vijay’s Puli was released amidst much pompous but the film bit the dust very soon. This gave more prominence to Ajith’s Diwali release Vedalam. Thala fans were hoping for a blockbuster with bated breath and bringing them a huge relief, Vedalam opened to positive response at the box-office.
Thanks to decent reviews and positive word of mouth, Vedalam stunned everyone by registering a staggering 15.3 crores gross on its first day in Tamil Nadu alone. This is the highest ever opening for any star film. The film is also doing superbly in the overseas areas and also in Kerala.
With Vedalam, Ajith even surpassed Vijay’s Kaththi’s record of 12.5 crore gross by a huge margin, thereby living upto his reputation as a ‘King of Openings’.
