Kiran Abbavaram’s Rising Fees Stir Tollywood Concerns

In Tollywood, once a hero shows even a hint of promise, producers quickly line up, and rising remuneration soon follows. That’s precisely what happened with Kiran Abbavaram.

After struggling to establish himself, Kiran scored a hit with K-Ramp, which changed the trajectory of his career. Offers began pouring in, and he now has three to four films lined up.

The challenge, however, is that Tollywood is already short of reliable mid-range heroes. Many are now demanding ₹10 crore, while others slightly below that level quote around ₹7 crore. Reports indicate that Kiran Abbavaram has started asking for approximately ₹5 crore.

Earlier, producers could manage a film by paying ₹3 crore to the hero and spending ₹9–10 crore on production, making a ₹12 crore budget feasible—recoverable through ₹6–7 crore from theatrical business and the rest via OTT. But with rising hero fees, budgets are now touching ₹15 crore, and could go even higher if the story demands stronger casting or better production values.

This escalation has left many producers concerned, with some admitting, “We thought at least this hero would be affordable. Now even he seems out of reach.”
