What is the purpose of launching a political party? What is its ultimate goal? The answer is simple: to come to power and work for realisation of the objectives for which the party is floated.
Any leader who launches a political party has to a clear objective: to win the confidence of the people and come to power, so that he can fulfil their aspirations and live up their expectations.
If any leader floating a new party says he has no interest in power but wants to serve the people, why should he launch a party? He can as well run an NGO.That was what power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan had been saying all these years.
Only in the last few weeks, he has started saying that his party will strive to come to power, though he did not specifically say yet that he is interested in becoming the chief minister.
In Telangana, too, Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof Kodandaram floated a new political party Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) a couple of days ago and unveiled his party flag and constitution on Wednesday.
While saying that his party would strive to address all the issues concerning the people of Telangana and achieve the objective of social justice, Kodandaram dampened the spirits of his followers saying he had no interest in the chief minister’s post.
It is like dropping the gun without firing even a single bullet and conceding the defeat even before the commencement of the battle.Being the president of the party, he should give a lot of confidence to his party cadre and lead the battle from the front.
It is a different matter whether people would bring his party to power or not, but by saying that he is not interested in power, he has diluted the very spirit of his party. However, Kodandaram has not stopped attacking Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Accusing KCR of adopting a dictatorial approach in contrast to democratic approach, the TJS president said the government was running against people’s wishes.“Telangana is a civil society. We will showcase our strength soon,” he said.
