The National Awards have once again seen Kollywood score over Tollywood with the latter bagging only one award compared to eight for the Tamil industry. ‘Chandamama Kathalu’, a commercial disaster ended up bagging the best film award in the regional film category.
Uttara Unni Krishnan bagged the best female singer award whereas the Siddharth starrer ‘Jigar Thanda’ got two awards. ‘Kakamuttai’, produced by Dhanush also got two awards.
The awards for ‘editing’ and ‘lyrics’, also went to the Tamil industry. Bollywood the largest film industry in India, once again walked away with the lion’s share of the awards. Although the top stars of Bollywood are minting money at the box-office by remaking Telugu and Tamil films, overall the industry continues its dominance at the National Awards.
