Konda Surekha to quit YSR Congress

Following the mass resignations of Seemandhra MLAs to stall Telangana, Former minister Konda Surekha is likely to quit YSR Congress in protest to party’s stand on the statehood issue.

On Friday, Surekha has given an ultimatum to party honorary president YS Vijayamma asking her to clarify on the resignations of the MLAs for keeping the state united. She opined that the MLAs resignation has branded YSRC as Seemandhra party and stressed it’s the turn of leadership to make it clear if the decision of resignations was taken on individual basis or the party has directed them to do so. The senior leader threatened to announce her plan of action in case party fails to declare its stand on Telangana.

Mass resignations of YSR Congress MLAs demanding the Centre to keep the state united has irked Konda Surekha who has been claiming to be the strong supporter of Telangana movement. YSRC leaders have intensified their plans to pacify Surekha who is one of key leaders for the party in the region.

As many as 16 YSRC MLAs have resigned on July 25th in the wake of Congress High Command nearing a final conclusion on the Telangana issue.
