Though the producer of Jr NTR’s “Devara” has claimed that pre-production for the second part is underway, film enthusiasts remain skeptical about whether “Devara 2” will actually materialize. Jr NTR is currently busy with “Dragon,” directed by KGF fame Prashanth Neel, making it impossible for him to join the sets of a sequel anytime soon. Due to this, Koratala Siva is reportedly exploring other options, though those plans have also faced roadblocks.
Koratala Siva reportedly approached Nandamuri Balakrishna with a story, and the senior star even listened to the narration twice. However, Balakrishna ultimately decided to work with a younger director, Vivek Athreya, after finishing his current film under Gopichand Malineni. Koratala also pitched his story to Pawan Kalyan, but the Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh opted for Surender Reddy’s project instead of the ones pitched by Koratala.
The situation has put Koratala Siva in a difficult position, as he has faced rejections from two of Telugu cinema’s biggest and most prominent stars. He now faces a choice: either wait indefinitely for “Devara 2” to happen, if it indeed happens, or develop fresh, contemporary stories for the younger generation of actors. At present, Koratala is reportedly in a phase of introspection and has paused his aggressive pursuit of projects with younger heroes, a strategy he had actively followed leading up to the release of “Devara.”
