KTR Grilled in ACB Probe Over Formula E Case, Faces ED Questioning on January 16

Former Telangana IT Minister, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), is currently at the center of a high-stakes investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) regarding the controversial Formula E project. KTR underwent a rigorous interrogation by the authorities yesterday, where he was reportedly asked around 80-82 questions. The primary focus of the questioning was the allocation of funds to private companies in connection with the car racing event.

KTR acknowledged his approval for the funds’ allocation but faced scrutiny for bypassing the cabinet and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approval, which is typically required for such transactions. In his defense, KTR described the decision as a swift one, asserting that it was not unusual in such situations.

During the course of the day-long grilling, KTR was questioned on various facets of the Formula E deal. After the investigation concluded, the authorities signaled that KTR might be called in again for further questioning, should the need arise.

Once the interrogation was over, KTR made an attempt to engage with the media, but his efforts were met with resistance from the ACB police, who advised against such interactions. This led to a brief altercation between KTR and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), with KTR asserting his right to speak to the press.

Afterward, KTR visited BRS leaders and had a short discussion with Harish Rao, who appeared visibly relieved to see KTR emerge from the investigation. The investigation is far from over, as KTR is set to face another round of questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 16. This upcoming session is expected to be a crucial development in the ongoing inquiry.
