TRS, the single largest party in Telangana, is often hailed by its leaders as the torchbearer of Telangana’s identity and self respect. As the party is gearing up for the upcoming GHMC elections, its prominent leader and the state’s IT minister KTR made a few interesting comments about his party.
Recalling some of his recent experiences following his father and Telangana CM KCR winning the hearts of Andhraites in his Amaravati visit, KTR revealed that an AP minister joked that KCR’s following among Andhraites is higher than the AP CM Chandrababu Naidu.
KTR then jokingly said that they are planning to rechristen TRS’ name from Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Telugu Rashtra Samithi. Not stopping here, KTR further said that he has already decided to contest from Bheemavaram if at all his party spreads its roots in AP.
KTR joked that winning from Bheemavaram is quite easy since just a poll promise of legalizing cockfights (kodipandalu) is enough to make the voters give him a thumping victory. Meanwhile, KTR’s funny jibes at AP CM and its people have not gone down well with a section of people.
