Sensible filmmaker Sekhar Kammula is set to present a gripping social drama titled Kuberaa, featuring a powerful ensemble cast with Dhanush and Nagarjuna in lead roles. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh in pivotal characters, promising a unique cinematic experience.
Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao, Kuberaa is slated for release on the 20th of this month. Sharing insights about the film’s origin, the producers revealed that the project materialized soon after the release of Love Story. “Sekhar Kammula narrated the concept, and he was very clear that Dhanush would be perfect for the lead role. Dhanush signed the film after listening to the narration for just 20 minutes. That’s when the journey began,” they said.
Confident about the film’s outcome, the makers added, “Though Kuberaa is being made as a straight Telugu and Tamil bilingual, we are also releasing it in Hindi through dubbing. The first copy is ready, and the film has shaped up brilliantly.”
Revealing the core conflict of the movie, they stated, “The story revolves around the contrast between the richest man in the world and the poorest man living on the streets. This sharp contrast forms the central conflict of Kuberaa.”
Speaking about Nagarjuna’s involvement, the producers shared, “We always wanted to collaborate with Nagarjuna. As soon as he heard the narration, he instantly liked it and delivered a stellar performance. It’s hard to imagine anyone else fitting into that role.”
The team also highlighted the challenges faced while shooting at real locations. “We filmed in actual slums, garbage dumps, and dumping yards. Shooting on the real streets of Mumbai was especially tough.”
Looking ahead, the producers revealed their plans to collaborate again with Sekhar Kammula on another project, though the lead actor for that film is yet to be finalized.
With its thought-provoking theme and stellar cast, Kuberaa is generating significant buzz ahead of its release.
