Cyberabad police have launched a massive manhunt to nab two domestic servants accused of murdering a 50-year-old woman in her flat at Kukatpally’s Swan Lake Condominium and escaping with cash and gold jewellery.
The victim, Renu Agarwal, was discovered in a pool of blood by her husband, Rakesh Agarwal, and their son when they returned home in the evening after she failed to answer phone calls. Rakesh, who runs a steel business, had left for work with his son earlier in the morning, leaving Renu alone in the apartment.
According to police, the suspects — Harsha (20), hired just 10 days ago by the Agarwal family, and Roushan, another domestic help employed in the same complex — brutally attacked Renu. They allegedly hit her with a cooker, tied her hands and legs, and stabbed her multiple times with a knife and scissors. Investigations revealed that the duo tortured her to obtain cupboard and locker keys, looted her jewellery, and fled with valuables.
Shockingly, the accused reportedly took a bath in the flat before leaving, seemingly to erase evidence. CCTV footage captured them leaving the building with a bag and later fleeing on a two-wheeler belonging to Roushan’s employer, heading towards KPHB Colony. Police suspect they may have escaped to Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Fingerprint samples and CCTV footage from multiple locations are being examined. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Cyberabad DCP (Balanagar) K. Suresh Kumar confirmed that five special teams have been formed to track down the culprits and probe whether they have any prior criminal record.
