Former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, who has gone into political oblivion ever since combined Andhra Pradesh was divided to carve out Telangana state, is back in the news.
On Saturday, on the occasion of Makara Sankranti, Lagadapati surfaced in Telangana and went to Yadadri to worship Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy.
He was so astonished with the expansion works going on in the temple premises that he immediately started praising Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
“It is highly commendable on the part of KCR to develop Yadadari as an international pilgrim centre. The developmental works are in full swing and I am sure, the temple will become on par with Tirumala. And KCR’s name will be written in golden letters in the history for Telugu states,” he said.
He reminded that Yadadri is a powerful temple and he could become an MP for the first time only after visiting the temple in 2004.
Lagadapati’s comments came as a major surprise, as he used to hate KCR the most during the Telangana agitation.
He ridiculed KCR’s fast and attacked the Telangana leader for abusing Andhras. He made all attempts to stall the Telangana state formation till last minute, including the infamous pepper spray incident. After Telangana state formation, Lagadapati did not contest the elections and quit the active politics.
