Recently, a comment by a well-known supporting actress has become a hot topic online and landed her in an unexpected controversy. Actress Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, a popular face in Tamil cinema and television, made a light-hearted remark about legendary actor Kamal Haasan during a popular Tamil reality show on Vijay TV.
She revealed on the show that, as a fan, she once had a small crush on Kamal Haasan and even tried to express it to him in person. However, Kamal smilingly told her, “You are like a sister to me!” in front of her friends, leaving her embarrassed. Lakshmi mentioned that at the time her friends had a good laugh over the incident and she herself took it in good humor.
However, the media and social platforms sensationalized this into “Lakshmi Ramakrishnan admits to having a crush on Kamal Haasan,” which started spreading rapidly.
Reacting to this, Lakshmi clarified:
“The media has completely misrepresented what I said. It was a harmless, fun incident I shared in a casual way, but they exaggerated it. Such fun moments should not be twisted. I was engaged at 16, married at 18, and had no connection with films till I was 42. I was just an innocent fan back then. When I met Kamal Haasan at the age of 45, he told me, ‘You are like a sister,’ and we all laughed about it. That’s all there is to it.”
She urged the media to report such light-hearted moments responsibly, without blowing them out of proportion.
