The late actor-turned-parliamentarian Vinod Khanna’s wife, Kavita Khanna is now all set to contest as an Independent after the BJP announced the candidature of actor Sunny Deol from Gurdaspur. The news has even made her upset as she expected the party would field her from the seat.
Her late husband, Vinod Khanna was a four-time MP from this seat and this made her think she would be contesting from Gurdaspur seat. She claimed that the BJP had ditched her twice after promising to give her the ticket in the 2017 by-poll and this time.
Kavita said that she feels betrayed and people who wanted her as their MP were blatantly ignored too. She also claimed that she has faith in God. “I have worked here for 20 years. When my husband was ill, I used to meet people of the constituency. People wanted me as their MP,” she said.
On the other hand, Sunny Deol’s father Dharmendra and wife Hema Malini are also into politics and he said “Just like how my father joined Vajpayee, I am now joining Modi. I want PM Modi for the next five years”.
