The announcement made by Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu that he would soon induct his son Lokesh into the cabinet has rekindled hopes of several ministerial aspirants in the party.
Naidu told the Telangana TDP leaders that Lokesh would join his cabinet soon. However, he did not specify as to when it would happen. But party sources said Naidu might go in for a cabinet reshuffle in a week or two.
It could be done well before the commencement of the budget session of the state assembly, scheduled to commence in Amaravati in the last week of February.
This has naturally raised the hopes of several aspirants, particularly those who had defected from YSR Congress party.
Naidu had reportedly promised cabinet berths to at least three of the YSRC MLAs – Bhuma Nagi Reddy, Jyothula Nehru and Jaleel Khan. Besides, a couple of other TDP legislators also might be inducted into the cabinet along with Lokesh.
It is not yet clear as to whether there would be any droppings from the cabinet.
“If Naidu wants to keep the strength of the cabinet in proportionate to the number of MLAs, then he may have to drop at least two ministers,” say sources.
