JNUSU president Kanhaiah Kumar who was on interim bail after sent to jail on sedition charges for chanting anti India slogans recently visited two Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Though he planned to console Rohit Vemula’s mother Radhika in HCU and then address students in the campus, it didnot materialise.However Kanhaiah addressed meeting organised by communists and leftists in Hyderabad and then went to Andhra Pradesh.
There were lot of efforts to stall his meetings. Kanhaiah who criticised those who opposed him however surprisingly didnot talk about how his supporters attacked for chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai.No one was surprised at Kanhaiah Kumar who only sees his side of coin and argues incorrigible like the communists. However media’s love for Kanhaiah surprised everyone.
Kanhaiah is not a national leader and media wouldn’t have given even 1/1oth coverage even to the communist national leader. Media played its role to increase tensions in the two telugu states with his overaction in Kanhaiah’s episode.Media covered Kanhaiah right from his arrival at the airport and provided huge coverage.
Some say due to leftist supporters in media this became possible. Many are slamming media for its biased view as it didnot report the views of anyone opposing Kanhaiah.While covering shoe attack on Kanhaiah, it didnot cover Kanhaiah supporters thrashing people who chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogans. Wonder why media didnot demand slapping of cases against the attackers.
