Madras HC revokes ban on Vishwaroopam

The Single division bench of Madras High Court had passed an interim order revoking the ban of Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam. The order came late night on Tuesday after hearing the arguments of both the lawyers which lasted for more than 6 hours. The interim order has turned out to be in favor of Kamal Haasan and the Madras High Court has put the Tamil Nadu government’s ban in abeyance. The High Court has also said that the film can be released tomorrow but the order is expected to be challenged by the government tomorrow.  However, Tamil Nadu government is not satisfied with the judgement and is planning to challenge it. On the other side, the Tamil Nadu Theater Owners Association (TNTOA), will hold an emergency meeting today to take a call on Vishwaroopam screening.

It is known that Tamil Nadu Government had imposed a 15 day ban on Vishwaroopam after few Islamic groups expressed their concerns over the movie disturbing communal harmony. Kamal Hassan had to knock the door of courts to fight the ban.
