The tragic Karur stampede, linked to Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s TVK party, which claimed 41 lives, remains a major flashpoint in Tamil Nadu politics. Following the incident, multiple cases were filed against Vijay and the party leadership.
In response, TVK District Secretary Satish Kumar approached the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail. However, Justice Senthil Kumar dismissed the petition, rejecting the request from the TVK general secretary. The court highlighted that the party leadership and local workers exhibited unruly behavior, which played a significant role in the devastating stampede.
The ruling makes it clear that the facts of the case are consolidated, leaving no room to evade legal scrutiny. This development is a significant setback for TVK, as the party leadership now faces serious legal consequences. Alongside the public image damage from the incident, the court proceedings add another layer of challenge for Thalapathy Vijay and his party.
