Mahavatar Narsimha is continuing its magical run at the box office, emerging as a major crowd-puller. The film, which started with just around 1,200 shows per day on August 14th, has steadily increased its screenings and is now being shown in over 4,600 shows daily across India. With such momentum, it is rapidly approaching the milestone of ₹300 crore worldwide gross. Amid this success, the survival and performance of War 2 and Coolie have become increasingly challenging.
Both War 2 and Coolie struggled to impress audiences during the Independence Day weekend. While Coolie managed moderate collections, War 2 faced heavy criticism and was labeled a disaster. The upcoming weekend is pivotal for both films to attempt a recovery at the box office.
There is still a chance for Coolie to break even in select regions if it performs well over Saturday and Sunday. However, War 2 faces an uphill battle in the South, especially in the Telugu market, where it has been declared a flop. The Hindi belt might offer some traction, but overall expectations remain low.
Meanwhile, audiences seem disappointed with the lack of compelling releases, both in theatres and on OTT platforms. The ongoing success of Mahavatar Narsimha reinforces the fact that strong content combined with positive word-of-mouth continues to be the biggest draw for viewers, proving that quality storytelling always finds its audience.
