Mahesh Babu, who started his journey as the “Prince of Tollywood,” quickly rose to become a Superstar, delivering back-to-back blockbusters. Over the years, many of his films have gained cult status, especially through their repeated telecasts on television. One such iconic film is Athadu, which has now set a remarkable record by being aired over 1,500 times on television.
It is quite rare for even the biggest blockbusters to reach 1,000 telecasts, but Athadu has surpassed this mark effortlessly. Despite its initial lukewarm response at the box office upon release, the film found a special place in the hearts of audiences through its television broadcasts. At one point, Athadu became a staple for Sunday entertainment, with Star Maa setting a world record for airing it so frequently.
Another Mahesh-Trivikram collaboration, Khaleja, also followed a similar path. Though it did not perform exceptionally well in theaters, it gained immense popularity over time and developed a strong fanbase. Even today, whenever Athadu is telecast, it continues to register impressive TRP ratings, proving its timeless appeal.
Athadu, produced by Murali Mohan under the Jayabheri Arts banner, was originally released in 2005 and remains one of the most cherished films in Mahesh Babu’s career.
