The festival featured an electrifying lineup, led by Grammy-winning artist Ruthie Foster, who captivated audiences with her signature blend of blues, rock, and gospel across both days. Kanchan Daniel, in her second performance at the festival, fused blues, rock, and soul, weaving in themes of societal change and personal experiences. Meanwhile, The John Blue Ensemble, a rising band from Siliguri, made a lasting impact at the Garden Stage, aligning with this year’s theme of spotlighting young and emerging talents.
Adding to the magic, The Teskey Brothers from Australia showcased the emotional depth of blues, putting the spotlight on the harmonica’s enchanting melodies. LA-based artist Megan Murray mesmerized the audience with her originals and covers, sharing stories of resilience and self-discovery. The energy peaked with Grammy-nominated artist Robert Randolph, whose dynamic steel pedal guitar and fusion of rock and blues had the crowd roaring in appreciation.
The grand finale, the All-Star Jam, brought together generations of global blues icons for a power-packed performance. A special highlight was the Nanhi Kali Choir, symbolizing Mahindra’s commitment to preserving the legacy of blues through its ‘Blues in Schools’ initiative.
With a strong emphasis on nurturing young talents while celebrating the legends of the genre, this year’s Mahindra Blues Festival was a vibrant testament to the evolution and endurance of blues music.
