Mangli, also known as Satyavathi Mudavath, has filed a police complaint against advocate Singapogu Subbu, alleging harassment, abuse, and extortion. The complaint comes a day after Subbu accused her of being involved in an alleged ₹10 crore fraud linked to microfinance investments.
Mangli, along with her legal counsel, approached the Panjagutta Police Station on Sunday, claiming that Subbu demanded ₹10 lakh from her. She alleged that when she refused to pay, he used abusive language and threatened to defame her across social media platforms. According to her statement, he also warned of circulating certain videos related to her on platforms like YouTube and Instagram to damage her reputation.
On the other hand, Subbu, who claims to represent a group of investors, alleged that nearly 100 individuals were persuaded to invest money with promises of high returns through film financing and related ventures. The investors reportedly claim that neither the promised profits nor their initial investments were returned. He further alleged that he was threatened when he questioned those involved about repayments.
Based on the complaints, police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including provisions related to cheating and criminal intimidation.
Strongly denying all allegations, Mangli stated that the accusations against her are false and baseless. She asserted that she has worked hard to build her career—from gaining recognition through shows like Bigg Boss to becoming a popular folk singer—and accused the advocate of deliberately trying to tarnish her image. Visibly emotional while speaking to the media, she vowed to fight the allegations legally and urged authorities to take strict action against those responsible for harassment and extortion.
