Ongoing low pressure in Bay of Bengal resulted in change of climate since yesterday in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Heavy rains lashed suddenly surprising Hyderabadis. However even more shocking is the callous attitude of officials who always react when any incidents happen. Rain water accumulated everywhere turning roads into rivers and this resulted in pregnant woman falling in an open manhole at Uppal Bus Stand in Secunderabad losing her life.
The incident happened when 26 year old Satyavani fell into an open nala which ran alongside a footpath. M.Gangadhar Reddy, SI,Gopalapuram Police Station said the nala near Uppal Bus Stop was overflowing making it invisible to the pedestrians. People say Officials opened the nala cover for the ongoing metro works and was left unattended.
GHMC rescue team searched for more than three hours before the body was traced 10 mts away from the spot she fell. This is not the first time Hyderabadi’s heard such deaths but many young kids, women and old people fell in open nalas and manholes and all the time officials make false promises which never materializes.
