Drishyam 3 to Focus More on Emotions, Says Director
The Drishyam franchise is one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated series, particularly in the Malayalam industry. Directed by Jeethu Joseph and featuring superstar Mohanlal, both Drishyam (2013) and Drishyam 2 (2021) won widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike. The first film shattered several box-office records, while the sequel, released directly on OTT during the COVID-19 pandemic, became a massive success. Naturally, fans have sky-high expectations for Drishyam 3.
However, director Jeethu Joseph is taking a more cautious approach this time. In a recent interview, he urged fans not to compare the upcoming film with its predecessors. He explained that Drishyam 3 will not follow the same formula of clever twists and suspenseful mind games that made the earlier films iconic. In the first two films, Mohanlal’s character, Georgekutty, amazed viewers with his intelligence and strategic planning, consistently outsmarting the police—moments that became the franchise’s hallmark.
For the third installment, Jeethu Joseph revealed that the focus will shift more toward emotions rather than suspense-driven tactics. He also cautioned that audiences expecting the same high-level twists may be disappointed. With this approach, the director is preparing fans for a fresh and different cinematic experience in Drishyam 3.
